Well yet another proud moment here at HQ! Helen Ellis and Banners, the latest addition to the team, have been training hard with me as well as doing their set homework in preparation for the Huby and Sutton Show on Sunday. Helen entered Banners into the in-hand class where he behaved impeccably and was placed 6th in a very large class. Then they went on to compete in another large class, the Racehorse to Ridden class. Banners went beautifully producing a great ridden show and he even gave the judge a great ride. Helen was worried about the gallop as Banners has been enjoying this a little too much in practice, however on the day Banners was on his best behaviour! They didn't get placed this time, however a much improved show piece and all round a fantastic day out! Well Done Helen and Banners.....now on to your next adventure! |

My sponsored rider Tracey Elcock has been very busy this week!
Firstly Tracey and Crackadawn entered the Intro and Prelim dressage tests at Selby and District Riding Club and won both classes on Tuesday evening. I went along to support and must say they looked fabulous together, rode a great test in both, a well deserved win! As we both (and many others) know Crackadawn is not the easiest of rides, but Tracey has been working hard at home, resulting in the win! There were a lot of entries to beat too as the classes went on until 8.40pm! Luckily Tracey decided to take Crackadawn home for a well deserved rest, then come back for the results. What a wonderful surprise to discover a win in both classes! And as if that wasn't enough hard work for one week. Tracey also entered the Friday night jumping at Selby and District Riding Club and again has come home with an abundance of ribbons! Crackadawn jumped really well and seemed to enjoy this much more than her dressage! I must say it is an honour to have team Crackadawn riding under my name, keep up the good work Tracey! ![]() Well Congratulations are in order for a long standing client of mine, Linsey Rowbury riding Dylan. They entered their very first dressage competition on Sunday and they came 1st! I am so proud of Linsey and Dylan as that is a huge achievement on your very first outing together. This win now means they have half qualified for the Championship in October to be held at Jodhpurs Competition Centre. So make sure you watch the website for the next blog so you can come and watch!! We are hoping to move on to do a Prelim dressage test soon. After a visit from the physio Dylan's transitions have improved massively so a bit more schooling and there will be no stopping them! I hope Linsey is still on cloud 9 after her great day out, Well Done to both of you ! ![]() Well after practicing for 2 weeks while Dylan's owner Linsey was on holiday we bit the bullet and entered Dylan in to his very first dressage competition! We decided on Jodhpurs as it is so well run and a very calm atmosphere. So we entered the Intro A. Well Dylan was very well behaved and relaxed in the warm up, only spooking at the HUGE tyre jump on the other side of the fence. So we went in to the indoor arena when we were called through, he trotted around the arena and past the judges car without one spook (apparently a pigeon also flew out during our test, which neither of us saw). So we went for it and rode the test and I must say he went very well and was beautifully calm. Once that was over we came out to chat it all over and give Dylan big pats and load him onto the trailer for a hay net....he managed to pop the trailer lights off in the process of grazing....he can't be perfect! So once loaded we went to have a look at the score and wait for the test sheet. Well neither one of us was expecting the result we saw......70.1% Wow, other scores were 60%-64% so we were well ahead! So we then decided we had better stay in case we got placed! The final result on the day was we came 3rd out of a very large class and the winner and second place horses went on to ride a Prelim test. So we are over the moon with Dylan, what a super star....another dressage star in the making, or perhaps we try a spot of jumping next?! Who knows, but what I do know is now Linsey (Dylan's owner) has the confidence to compete in a dressage test next time....so we are looking at dates...watch this space! ![]() What a proud moment! 'Tyrone Silver Summit' had his second outing this time to 'Jodphurs'. We came 7th out of 13 competitors and were so close to a rosette! More importantly Harley was so relaxed and concentrated very hard for his whole test, scoring 65.65%!! I am one very proud rider! Now time to work on our stretches.... |
